I was inspired by our upcoming discussion topic to write the following…

Our Enduring Patriotic Will

(Children reciting) I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Too many want to change her, rearrange her,
make her a stranger, to future generations

We need to respect her, and protect her,
so she can heal, our weary nation

Too many years, patriotic tears,
our Republic once united, now deeply divided

Who is there to blame, they have no shame,
our American Spirit, her burning flame

Once extinguished, she's no longer distinguished,
as that shining city on a hill

We MUST stand tall, fight through it all,
restore her spirit, Our Enduring Patriotic Will
